Information Architecture (IA) Summit - 2012
The IA Summit is the confluence of the best people and ideas in information architecture. Building on the conference’s 12-year history, they focus on maturing the practice of user experience and information architecture amidst a constantly evolving ecosystem of devices and platforms. It’s not easy being a user in a cross-channel world, but it’s not nearly as difficult as being an information architect.
Jamie Monberg, Chief Experience Officer, will be the summit's closing speaker: "Today technology is ubiquitous. IA/UX traditionally deals with the design of digital interfaces. Many of these interfaces are then "bolted in" to our physical architecture. {This typifies the kind of cognitive disconnect that occurs when technology is abstracted from architecture -- and the people that experience it.} In Jamie's talk he will explore how the lessons of human centric interface design can be applied more directly to our environments [to ensure more seamless experiences]. This includes an emphasis on interaction which has both digital and analog components. Examples will include visitor experiences and iconic destinations such as the Empire State Building and the Sydney Opera House with a brief digression on the semiotics of interaction design as manifest in Rock'em Sock'em robots."
