Hornall Anderson is very excited to partner again this year with the Seattle Design Festival. In 2011, our co-founder and CEO Jack Anderson was one of the honorary co-chairs of the inaugural event. The event was a success and a great first step in realizing the importance of helping promote the role of design in improving our community here in Seattle.
Over this past year, a new non-profit Design in Public was formed as the overarching organization responsible for the Festival and other community programs to research, convene, and share knowledge about design in the public realm. We were thrilled when one of our design strategists, Mark Buchalter, was invited to join the advisory board for the organization earlier this year.
With the 2nd annual Seattle Design Festival coming this Sept. 20-23, 2012, it’s once again our pleasure to be involved with the event, this time in the form of designing the Festival’s promotional posters and post cards. Yuri Shvets, a senior designer here at Hornall Anderson, was tasked with bringing this year’s theme “Engage Your World” to life, inviting the public to participate in a conversation about urban life and enlivening the city through design. The posters are meant to cut through the clutter via bold iconic design and provoke the public into active participation. You can now see them in neighborhoods throughout the city.
Headquartered at Denny and Westlake in South Lake Union, this year’s Festival will include talks, workshops, installations, tours, exhibits, films, food and music. Most of the events are free, unless otherwise noted on the Festival’s web site. It’s going to be a fantastic few days and we look forward to seeing you at one or more of the events.
