Having worked for Hornall Anderson Co-founder and CEO Jack Anderson for 19 of our firm’s 30 years, I was so proud to join my fellow co-workers in celebrating him at AIGA Seattle’s 25th anniversary party last Friday night. Jack was honored with the organization’s 2012 Fellow Award, and although travel kept him from being there in person, our co-President Lisa Cerveny accepted on his behalf (alongside Jack's daughter, Jessie).
Anyone familiar with Jack knows of his modesty when it comes to being honored for something like 30 years contribution to the design community. Which is why you’ll see that his video acceptance speech focuses more on the entire team/family at Hornall Anderson (including employees and clients). But Lisa was able to direct much due respect back to Jack, giving the audience a small peek into Jack as a leader, a designer, a mentor, and as a caring individual with a wicked sense of humor. After all, without him there wouldn’t be a Hornall Anderson.
Here’s to 30 more years of great design…and many more awards, Jack!
