Support our local farmers AND eat fresh!
When planning your holiday meal or perhaps the dish you'll bring to the family potluck, consider buying from your local farmers. You get yummy, freshness and you'll also help to eliminated fuel emissions caused by long-haul trucks, trains and planes. It's a win, win.
The Universtity Farmers' Market (50th & University) is open every Saturday from 9:00 - 2:00. There are delicious seasonal fruits and vegtables to see and taste all year round. Typically there is music to entertain as you stroll around and feast your eyes on the colors of the season. Check out the markets in or near your neighborhood.
I also found a Susan Bradley cookbook that makes it easy to prepare seasonally fresh recipes throughout the year. Of course, this cookbook is specific to the Northwest, but there is likely one out there for the area in which you live.
Enjoy and support local!
