There has been a lot of excitement brewing in both the Seattle and UK offices this month as members of our staff participate in “Movember," a global fundraising initiative to raise money and awareness for men’s health issues by growing a moustache during the month of November.
The inner-office competition was strummed up by our comrades in the UK who had the privilege of working with client Heinz on a package design for a limited edition HP sauce bottle that represents their strong partnership with the Movember campaign.
The assignment was to create a must-have bottle that communicated HP’s association with the fundraiser while maintaining the HP logo and general aesthetic. HP sauce reserves a special place on the tables of many UK homes — from country estate to council estate — and Hornall Anderson’s team recognized that the traditional aspect of the HP character played well with the gentlemanly campaign style of the Movember fundraiser.
In the words of Andy Atkins, Hornall Anderson’s design director on the project, “We have sought to develop HP’s eccentric personality through the illustration of an English gent sporting a lavish moustache and supported by a Victorian styled typographic call to action.”
The call to action is simply “Men of Britain. Grow Your Mo.”
Heinz will be releasing 1 million of the limited edition HP sauce bottles to be sold only in the UK. Bottles started selling in October and will continue to be on shelf throughout the rest of “Movember.”
As for the ongoing staff competition, I can assure you that the boys in Britain currently have the upper hand (or upper lip, as the case may be) on their American counterparts. If you would like to help Hornall Anderson’s plight and the Movember campaign, feel free to go to this link and support one of our members from team “The Pencil Tashes.” Hornall Anderson will be matching the funds up to our target of £5,000.
