We are proud to announce the launch of the brand new Pacific Northwest Ballet website: www.pnb.org. This process began almost a year ago fall with a new identity design, so we’re really thrilled to see it come to fruition.
At the outset of this process, I was completely na?ve to what the ballet was, not just as an event, but as culture (I was admittedly more of a beer in the bleachers guy). It has been a true pleasure to learn what a powerful, beautiful art form it is – intense physicality and sensuality balanced with absolutely precise coordination, and steeped in technique and tradition. I can’t think of any art form where the intersection of the classic and the modern play out so explicitly on stage.
It’s also been phenomenal to get to know PNB as an organization. This is a group of people who are, to a person, passionate about what they do, deeply involved in their community, and committed to sharing their reverence for this art form with everyone. They’re also a bunch of really down to earth people who have made this long project a pleasure.
So all this good stuff actually presented us with some pretty significant challenges: how do we design a web experience that reflects all that beauty, passion, movement, music, athleticism, theatricality, that sense of community? How do we blend this aura of elegance and drama with a sense of true accessibility and openness? We set out, as PNB does everyday, to embody that intersection of classic and modern, and we’re really proud of the result.
PNB has a reputation for world class quality and for pushing the boundaries of their medium; if you think you know what the ballet is, I’d invite you to check out the website (some great offers), buy a ticket, and have your mind changed.
