Many of you may know that there isn’t a mainstream way to recycle plastic bottle caps in the US; many are simply too small to sort and cause jams in the sorting machinery. As a consequence, they end up in landfills, oceans and beaches.
Aveda, the cosmetics company, has started a grassroots effort to collect plastic caps from the public and recycle them into new caps and containers.
They welcome any individual or organizations to bring collected caps to their experience centers, or mail them directly to their waste services partner in New York.
We have set up a collection at HADW. For an organization such as ours, it’s one of many small ways to acknowledge the realities of the packaging life cycle.
